The Sydney Harper Bridge
On a recent trip to Albany in Western Australia, one of the Harper clan visited a local walking track:
We have just returned from Perth and Albany in W.A. following the
descendants of John Harper the youngest son of Andrew and Maria. John was a
very successful timber worker and had a couple of timber mills cutting
Sheoak for the old wooden beer barrels. We did not know anything about him
before we left but we have been able to follow up his history through the
Albany Library and papers. There is a bike and walking track that he is
reputed as having a lot of input into and as a consequence the shire have named
a bridge over a small creek on the path "The SYDNEY HARPER bridge" it has a
sign on both approaches to it, vandals have tried to make the "P" into a
"B".
